MII COSMETICS | HEAVENLY BRONZING GEL, ILLUMINATING FACE BASE & BROWS BY MII: SCULPTING BROW BUILDER 🎀

I love trying new beauty products and since we sell this make-up where I work I thought I would get a few new bits to try and it's a no-brainer because I didn't have to go to any shops. I've used Mii Cosmetics before and I love the products, I love the brand, I love the packaging, it's super simple and pink! I love the products that I've used before, so when I got a voucher for make-up from everyone at work, I thought I'd try some new products. ☺️

NORTHAMPTON TURTLE BAY PREVIEW EVENING

Turtle Bay opened it's doors to Northampton at the end of last month and previous to this I was lucky enough to be invited to the VIP Preview Evening. There was an £800K investment in the new restaurant and it has created 50 new jobs, and it's a pretty cool place.

There is actually a place called Northampton in Jamaica too and it's so lovely because the restaurant took inspiration from Northampton in Jamaica, so I think that's really quite special. The decor was amazing, there was tonnes of bright colours, and the restaurant definitely had a beachy and lively vibe goin' on - exactly what you need when you're the furthest point in the UK away from the beach, and don't actually live in or have ever been to the Caribbean.

You don't have to eat there - there's a stand alone bar, which is great when you want to go out in Northampton on a Friday or Saturday night, just for some cocktails, get your groove on, I dunno. The bar has a menu of over 40 Caribbean rums, all used to create the coolest cocktail list. Happy hour is from 11:30am-7pm and then starts again at 10pm! Hello, happy hour, am I right? 😜🍹

BUT, you should try definitely the food too if you're going - the signature dishes include their famous jerk chicken and curried goat, but there is plenty other options like salads, burgers, and a whole range of options for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free diners!

I was actually running late to the event, working in Milton Keynes and trying to get into the town centre of Northampton when the M1 was shut in the middle of rush hour, I was never going to be there on time - but then again when I am ever on time even without traffic? 😂

I took my best friend Em along and when we entered about 45 minutes late (whoops!😳) we were took straight over to the bar and offered complimentary cocktails, me and Em both went for the same cocktail which was the Reggae Rum Punch and apparently we missed out on the little nibbles that were going round whilst everyone trialled all of the many cocktails, but we were assured that they were delicious.

We had time to drink our cocktails and then we sat down with the other guests to sample some of the Caribbean food on the menu.

Unfortunately we didn't get to try any of their curried goat because there wasn't enough for our table, but we did try a few of the vegetarian and vegan curries - they were surprisingly tasty and full of flavour. I'm definitely going to go back and try the Goat Curry, I feel like we deffo missed out on that, I'm not sure how I feel about the Goat Curry, but I'll get back to ya on that one.

We tried a few of their beach salads, which were lush - I do love a good salad and a lil bit of avocado 🥑 I tried the Avocado, Butternut Squash and Mango Salad and their Spinach, Rainbow Beets and Watermelon Salad.

And we tried their sweet potato fries which were obvo great. 😍

I was driving so I couldn't really have too much to drink, so I only had one cocktail, Em tried one of the mojitos, the vanilla and passion fruit one and I tried the watermelon crush - which was a smoothie and then the pineappleade which I really, really enjoyed.

Then we tried the Jerk Chicken. It was served on huge boards and all of the chicken was stacked up, it came with four different sauces so you could really spice up your chicken or not and it was served with coleslaw. The pieces of chicken were huge and tasty, and we both began to feel quite full.

Then it was my favourite part of any meal, the desserts!! 🍨 We had a choice between Dark Chocolate Brownie, Banana and Toffee cheesecake and Passion fruit pie. All of which were delicious and since we were full up on all of the other delicious food, we struggled to finish them!

My absolute fave, was 100% the chocolate brownie - it was so rich and dark and one of those oh-my-god-I-can-only-eat-one-of-these-or-else-I'll-be-sick kinda brownies.

This was my first restaurant opening I've been too, and I was not disappointed. It was a fab evening, well organised, with lovely staff, delicious food, if only there'd been more cocktails but unfortunately I was working the next day and driving 😢 but the soft drinks were amazing too!

I would definitely recommend Turtle Bay, it was such a good atmosphere and a lovely restaurant and I can't wait to go back and try more food and more cocktails!

ONE WEEK BOOK CHALLENGE | IT by STEPHEN KING

There are 1166 pages, in this book. The writing is very little and there are about 456 lines on a page. I love how the paper feels, I personally love Stephen King, and myself and Christopher John have set me a challenge to read it in a week.

I absolutely love reading and last week I saw the film IT and Chris bought the book for "both of us"(his words, not mine) although it's probable he'll never read it, or he might I don't know. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I have already begun reading and I am currently on page 114.

The film was really good, I've never read IT before, I didn't see the old mini TV Series that was on, so I was new to it, and I thought it was a good film. It was a lil bit jumpy but it definitely didn't give me nightmares or keep me awake or anything like that which is always a good thing when I used to be scared of the tiniest little things. Pennywise, I can see was a really creepy character for the kids in the movie and if I was ten, I most definitely would have been shit scared to suddenly see him pop up in the darkness.

I'm excited for the book because I love detail, and boy oh boy is Stephen King good at describing, and so far the book has touched on Georgie and Bill's story with the paper boat and Pennywise in the sewers, another incident which has happened that was not seen in the film (which I won't post about due to spoilers if ya gonna read it) and is now set when they are adults. 27 years later.

So far the film has done a great job of putting the right image in my mind. Normally directors can create something different, because they have a completely different vision of the book, whereas in this film the director Andy Muschietti, has literally made what I read about the paper boat and Georgie come alive.

Wish me luck. ☘️

Have you read IT? What did you think of the film? 🤡🎈

🌻 AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND 🌻

I freakin' love bank holidays, especially when I've booked the Saturday off and actually get a three day weekend. Yaas. 💃🏼

Last year I spent the bank holiday out with some work friends, where me and my friend drank about four bottles of white wine between us, that was then accompanied by some tequila shots (only I was drunk enough to think 'yeah this is a great idea!' It wasn't, it really wasn't.

This bank holiday I spent the Saturday morning shopping at Rushden Lakes which is my new home, apparently, with Em, and then I went and got my nails and toes done and then we all went out on Saturday night to celebrate my 2️⃣1️⃣🎉🎈 birthday, which now is most definitely over. 😒

Here's all of my pals, and if you're wondering where my jumpsuit from it's from New Look. 😍

On the Sunday me, Em and Chris went out to get a breakfast – I say breakfast it was past 12 but we went to an all day breakfast cafe in Northampton. Chris went home to watch the F1 and Em went back to hers and I went back to mine, I chilled out a lil bit, wrote a blog post (which is this one, incase you haven't seen it). Me and Christopher did end up watching Moana with a huge bucket of popcorn that was only £2 from Morrisons! And then we went to bed really early because we got up at 6am to go to the SEASIDE 😍🏖

Hope everyone had a lovely bank holiday (I do realise that it was over a week ago now loool 😂 but we do all know me!)
